I think the reason police keep killing civilians without murder convictions is that we allow foxes to guard the hen house.
If every fatal shooing by police officers were investigated by the FBI instead of the local officers’ buddies, there would be more trials. If all police killings were tried in federal courts there would be more convictions.
Since I am a Master of the Obvious, here are some observations:
- Police are like the population as a whole – with the same good-bad; strong-weak; and honest-dishonest tendencies.
- Departments have internal affairs divisions because they know the above is true.
- Police practice lying every day – they are expert liars.
- Although lip service is given to holding law enforcement officers to a higher standard, the opposite is true because the investigators and prosecutors are often personal friends. The foxes are in the hen house.
Let’s get he foxes out of the hen houses.
